It’s been a little while since I’ve written one of these. If you follow my LinkedIn, you would have seen that I finished my role at TPXimpact at the end of March, and I started a new role as a UX Consultant at Capgemini this week. So that’s why my week notes took a break; onboarding and offboarding roles.
I’ve already written a short reflection on my time at TPX on LinkedIn, so if you’re interested, you can head over there and read it. Like I said in my post, it’s never goodbye, more of a “see you later,” especially in our world of UX design and consultancy. I’m also still eyeing the top spot in the F1 Fantasy League.🏁
This week however I’ve been in full on boarding mode. It’s been awhile since I’ve been a newbie at a company, I was at TPX for 4-ish years, and although we merged, acquired, and merged - despite the changing roles here and there - it was always F4/TPX. This week however, complete newbie, trying to take as much in as possible and meet as many people as I can along the way.
Capgemini is no joke, there’s over 300,000 employees worldwide, which is impressive, and already this week I’ve met (virtually) and spoken to colleagues worldwide. Epic. Add to this the fact I’m starting a project on week 2, means I’ve been very busy. Plenty of onboarding calls, handover calls, and shadowing opportunities this week has kept me on my toes. 🤯
I’m super keen to get stuck into project work next week. I feel like I’ve got a pretty good grasp on the subject matter, mainly down to the amazing people who’ve walked me through what’s been done, where we are, and where we’re headed. One thing I’ve really enjoyed this week is listening to everyone’s time at Cap, their journey into design and highlights of their career during their time at Cap. The standout factor must be the amount of opportunity there has been to expand and explore different roles within the company. Various courses, certifications, licenses, spoilt for choice on what to do, there seems to be so many benefits to take advantage of. 💪
Outside of work I’ve been jumping – a small jump – into the world of photography. It’s fun, but very expensive, and the Lightroom editing rabbit hole is never ending. I’ve been pestering a former colleague of mine about all things photography, they’re probably fed up, but I’ll continue to pester anyway. 🤷♂️
Anyway, it’s almost evening, the sun is out, and after a busy week I can hear a cold beverage calling me and relax in the garden. I’ll finish with the usual, reading, watching, listening. Short and sweet this week. Looking forward to the future.
Started watching Gangs of London 2. Although I can’t remember anything that happened in the previous season, so I’ve been trying to put the pieces together as we’ve gone along. I did forget how brutal it was. Not one for the squeamish.
Other than the radio in the car, null.
This week? Lots of documentation, on boarding, web pages. Outside of work, not a lot. I have been reading up on photography stuff but, that’s been largely it.
